DAY ONE

WRITER’S BLOG - Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 | Pre-flight. Wake up, brush up, mush up, & rush up. Packing and stacking and going to the airport. Thanks for the ride Larry!

Made it through security and are now at the gate waiting to board.

It’s like waiting for paint to dry. You’re excited for the new color, but all you want to do is move in and hang your pictures!

All three of us were TSA Pre-Chek. Two made it through, one was detained and shoveled to the general boarding line to undergo interrogation and clothing removal, with individual item scans, all because she had a fake knee. There must have been four individual trays and then the hand wand body scan. Ironically, they never checked the knee. There should be body scanners in TSA-Pre-Chek! In a word, NUTS!

So, after passport checks, scanners that reveal all, pat downs that invade personal space, completely dismantling carry-ons, and feeling like being on a watch-list, we made it to the gate.

The silver-lining, because of the knee, we were granted early boarding! Sometimes being fake makes you real!

WHEELS UP and Bon Voyage! Setting sail on a jet stream!

Big plane, big windows, tiny aisle and tiny seats! And these are the “comfort seats” $$$$!.

Food was good, leg space was great! Put the TRTLs (turtles) on and grabbed a few winks. Oh, and we were right by the bathrooms, which was a big plus! The downside, is it was like grand central station. Did find the bathrooms in the back of the plane were bigger and less congestion. Apparently, those in rows 24 to 40 don’t have to go as much.

One of the best moments was flying into sunrise as we approached London. The horizon was lit!

As we rushed into DAY TWO, we were pushed along by Heathrow Airport peeps trying to get us to our new connectors since we were so late taking off in Dallas and missed our British Airways connection flight. Hello Aer Lingus!

Yes, DAY TWO shaped up to be a very interesting day. Lots of walking, talking to agents, filing claims, looking for transportation, getting Euros, looking for transportation, talking to agents, and the longest bus ride ever! We were glad to get to our hotel.

Now for dinner!
