Well, not so fast! All paid for and ready for departure, and then COVID! Fortunately, we were able to get a full refund for our trip for which we were thankful. We pushed the trip to 2021, but that proved difficult due to lingering restrictions. By the time 2022 rolled around, we decided we didn’t need a tour company and planned our own self-drive!

A September road trip from California to Florida, with stops in Prescott; AZ, and Cleburne, TX. The era of COVID presented some interesting challenges, but the trip was adventureous and fun.

Checked off a bucket list item on a road trip to Waco and Magnolia Farms. Even included a chance meet with Nan Stevens, Joanna Gaines’ mother. Dined on Avocado Toast inside The Table, wandered the barn, flowers, food trucks, and bakery. Bought a T-shirt and marveled at the transformation at the Silos.

Once upon a time there were three slightly wrinkled and weathered Lasses; one an Irish, one an English, and one a Scottish. They set sail, they did, on a silver-winged flying vessel, bound for the coast of Ireland, and adventures untold.

Remember the Alamo! Exploring historic San Antonio where brave Texans fought for Independence from Mexico, the Alamo is surrounded by city creep, but its historic significance is well preserved. Built as a Christian mission in 1742 as Misión Antonio de Valero, it changed to a military garrison during the Texas Revolution. This is a destination city.

Nothing better than a road trip with forever friends! We shared the same profession as Emergency First Responders and became friends for life. Our careers spanned 120 years collectively, and to date we’ve been pals for 40 years.
